Light weight Tripod for Backpaking
Every photographer needs a tripod for some shots, but that's not always easy.
So, what's the solution?
We need a Lightweight tripod for backpacking. They must be small enough to fit in the package, but far enough to serve as a functional tripod. We also need a stable shooting platform that is light too. No simple suggestion.
So how do we solve these problems? Backpacking is often smaller than normal Travel Tripods. Backpackers sacrifice something the size of a standard tripod to save space and weight. We could even pay a little bit more for lightweight materials.
What you should consider first is exactly what your needs will be. For example, when you do macro photography, you can use a different kind of landscape photographer.
YOUR BASIC LIGHTWEIGHT TRIPOD Brands
Sirui T-005KX with ball head
The tripod will be made of aluminum. Aluminum is still reasonably robust; it is much cheaper.
A lightweight is not very stable when extended in windy conditions. The tripod should have a hook for the backpack or something heavy for extra stability
It gets a little more expensive, but these other tripods do not have these features:`
Weight. The tripod and Ball Head weigh 1.9 pounds.
Portable when folded. It is less than 12 "long and 3" wide but extends up to 54 ".
Versatility. The legacy lock at three different angles, and you can remove the center for even lower shots.
Stability. This tripod was fitted with a carabiner to attach the weight to the center column. I also use the carabiner when folding into a pack.
Smooth, Robust ball head. The Arca style is compatible with many other tripods.
Foam handles on the legs keep the hands freezing.
The GorillaPod SLR zoom with ball head
The GorillaPod SLR Zoom with Ball Head can accommodate most DSLRs; The GorillaPod Focus is suitable for larger DSLRs with larger lenses.
This tripod is just over 2 "in diameter and 12" in length when folded and weighs just under a pound. Quick change plates for free.
Really right stuff TFC-14
The tripod we're talking about today is the Really Right Stuff TFC-14, paired with the Really Right Stuff BC-18 Microball, and the combination of these two elements is remarkable. RRS has been selling a TQC-14 tripod for many years, and it was my go-to tripod. The TQC version had a quick column in the middle to add extra height, but with the newer TFC version, they've taken the column off to save some weight.
I grabbed TFC-14 as fast as possible, and if you already have a TQC-14 tripod, they are selling a conversion kit because the legs between the two models are the same. Nice to offer them that I think!
